The Bathroom Reno - Weekend #1

This is the really ugly bathtub and shower doors that we started with.

On Friday night, Mike and his Dad ripped out the tub and the drywall. Thankfully the worst thing they found under the tub was some animal poop - ewww!

End of day Saturday - new tub is installed, cement board is up on two walls and the plumbing is done. When we woke up to the sound of running water this morning, Mike was thrilled to see it was rain outside, not leaky plumbing inside.

We'll be showering at the gym and at Mike's parents' place for awhile....

Mom & Dad - you can check out the progress when you come over on Friday - no pressure, Mike!

Baby deBruin

Just got back from the Ultrasound and everything (to our untrained eyes anyway) looks normal. 10 fingers, 10 toes. We won't get a proper medical opinion until tomorrow, but the ultrasound tech saw nothing out of the ordinary.

Kate and I were just not going to find out the sex because we thought leaving it to be a surprise when she's born would be better, but decided that we wanted to call her something other than 'the baby' or 'it'. So ya, we found out.

Seeing her move around in there is something else. Can't wait until she arrives.

Here are some photos of our little girl.

Eh up

OK it's my birthday, it's my birthday (grinding motions with the hands)
The downside is that I am still in Kansas.
I am hoping that I'll gat a contract in Toulouse but maybe not.
It'd be ideal if I could make it happen while George and Shannon are there.
In the meantime I'll just gently weep each night.

The Closet Expansion Project

Here's the closet after Day 1 of Demolition.

After Mike took out the old chimney, there was a hole from the attic through to the basement.
This is where the chimney was.
Ta da! Seven weeks later, here's our new closet with so much more storage. In fact, the closet's looking a little bare...I think I need some new clothes!
